O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.
Robert Frost
We hope that you have a wonderful October, full of crimson and amber leaves, chilly mornings, warm cider, inspired learning and rest! Happy fall from Five in a Row.

I just was about to pick up a Frost book I used in college! What a lovely find this Friday morning!

It’s been almost 20 years of homeschooling. Our last of three graduates this year. They’re all in college now. The best days and sweetest memories were with FIAR. I attribute my kids academic success to their love of reading. This was fostered through FIAR. How I love your curriculum.

Yes and AMEN to Renae’s comments! Our last 2 of 6 still in school and by far, their favorite memories ALL include FIAR! Over 20 years for our family and the books are still treasured…now “fought” over for who gets to have them for their children someday! 🙂 I love encouraging young homeschool moms and I always give them FIAR as the very BEST way to start. Thank you! We have been very blessed.

Lovely poem. Unfortunately, it doesn’t apply to Texas!
We love FIAR so much. The years if reading and exploring with the books are treasured memories. I’m excited to start agin with our last surprise baby!

My 2 FIARers are adults now. One engaged to be married in May. Both excelled academically thanks to FIAR. My son has a Master’s degree in Engineering. My daughter an English major! Thanks for the beautiful words of Robert Frost. It’s still in the 90’s here but we can hope for those mornings soon.
