Mini Unit - On The Corner of Chocolate Avenue (February)
Mini Unit - On The Corner of Chocolate Avenue (February)
Candy made Milton Hershey happy, but he couldn’t afford it, especially not the most delicious candy, chocolate. He apprenticed at a young age for an ice cream parlor, where he learned to make ice cream, taffy, lollipops, and marshmallows. This inspired him to open a candy shop—despite many setbacks and failures—he persevered and eventually found sweet success. He never forgot his humble beginnings.
Note: This unit can be used at any time to enjoy learning more about Milton Hershey and chocolate and other lessons and topics. It would also make a great unit to enjoy in February, around Valentine’s Day. Valentine-specific go-along titles are provided (in addition to the regular go-along titles) to enjoy if you opt to pair this unit with the holiday.
The book On the Corner of Chocolate Avenue is sold separately from the Five in a Row Mini Unit study. You can order the picture book today from your local library or purchase online. On the Corner of Chocolate Avenue and all the go-along books will be available on our Amazon shop.
