Mini Unit - Emmanuel's Dream

Born in Ghana, Africa, a baby boy with the use of only one good leg overcomes social perceptions and physical challenges—with great perseverance—to prove that disability doesn’t mean inability. Based on the true story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah’s life, Emmanuel’s Dream is an inspirational and uplifting story of what can happen when someone believes in you, and you believe in yourself and your abilities.

This unit is a wonderful geographic introduction to Africa! Lessons cover concepts drawn from the story which include, the power of words, the physics of bicycling, and the importance of persistence. There are many other lessons included; this unit is 25 pages long and full of learning opportunities for your whole family. The recipe included has become one of our family’s favorites.
