Default Bathtub Cleaners, What is your fav?

We have been in our house for almost 11 years now and my porcelin tub has only had one REALLY GOOD CLEANING not because I hate to clean the tub (which I do ) but more because I cannot get the same cleaner that I had that first time around.

It's been almost 11 years, so I don't remember then name of the stuff, but I do remember it came from Home Depot and dh or my mom had to end up using the stuff because I could not breath with it (I had to leave the house). I know, I should probably stay away from it then if I can't even use it.

I have trouble breathing if I use bleach, amonia and most other holdhold cleaners. I can do 'scrubbing bubbles' but it doesn't clean the tub.

Since the tub is porcilin, I have to be carefull of what I use anyway. I am even having a hard time of getting the shower walls (plastic stuff) clean and the calking around the tub is awlfull. I am constantly trying to get rid of black mildew. Yuk!

Do you have any favorite cleaners that you use that would be safe for my lungs and safe on my tub and walls?? Homemade would be great.

I love the Mister Clean Magic Eraser for tubs....no fumes, just the eraser and water and gets the deepst soap scum and dirt off! I buy the generic ones from Wal Mart or Target!

Supremely lazy here. It's a shower cleaner with "the power of oxyclean" in it, and it's in a yellow bottle for around $2. Can't for the life of me think of the name, but it keeps the tub sparkling. Unfortunately I've been out for a while and um, we won't discuss what my bathtub looks like.

The Magic Eraser works too, but I REALLY prefer not to use elbow grease if at all possible.

I won't ask you either.

Is this the thingy you hang on the wall and it sprays or something?? Or am I just totally dense when it comes to this type of cleaning?

Is this the same as the regular blue and white Magic Eraser? I have used those a LOT around the house (which reminds me I need to by some more).

Magic Eraser here, too. Everytime I take a shower, I clean a section after I put on my conditioner. At first, you would have to do smaller sections to get rid of build-up, but now I can spend just a minute or two each time and cover everything in one week before starting the cycle over again.

No, it's just a yellow bottle of shower cleaner ahh...I know!
It's Arm and Hammer Scrub Free with Oxy! That stuff gets ALL of the gunk off. (Yes if you have a lot of build up it will take a few go-overs (don't ask me how i know and WHY on earth is it my shower gets gunky and the kids doesn't?) but really if you don't have to use elbow grease it's worth it. LOL)

I have really hard water with minerals, but I can't stand the smell of cleaners. What I do is fill the bottom of the tub (maybe a half-inch of water), add a squirt of Dr. Bronner's soap and maybe 1/2 cup of washing soda. I let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes, then wipe down the tub and stall, drain and rinse. The washing soda does a great job of dissolving bathtub crud, but with no fumes.

When we had a porcelin tub, I used Barkeeper's Friend. It's a powder like Comet, but it works FABULOUSLY
